Abrahams Tearoom

The George Fisher building in Keswick was originally Abraham's photographic shop, built in 1887 by George Abraham to house his potographic business. The business continued under the guidance of his two sons, George and Ashley, who were internationally known both as mountain and landscape photographers and pioneer rock climbers.

In 1967 the Abrahams family ceased trading and the premises were aquired by George Fisher, a local climber and founder member of the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team - and so this iconic building became an outdoor equipment store.

When George Fisher retired in 1989, the building was completely refurbished and links with past maintained by incorporating a new tearoom, known as Abrahams, located underneath the rafters with spectacular views over the Derwent fells.
