Our Foot Fitters
The training our foot fitters receive is second to none in the UK outdoor trade. As experience develops our trainee foot fitters have in-house training from our suppliers and are sent on a number of external training courses; perhaps the most vital of these sessions are those run by the US based “foot-fitting guru”, Phil Oren.
A Trying Time
Plan ahead – give yourself time to make this important decision; it’s not one to be left until the end of the day, allow sufficient time to try on as many pairs as it takes to find that perfect fit. Don’t feel rushed – we’ve got all day to help, though remember that wet days and weekends are our busiest times. If you are aware of any specific problems that could take extra time to address then feel free to let us know when you are likely to be in, we may recommend that you come along midweek or first thing in the morning.
Bring in your old boots – did they cause you any blisters or pain, if so when and where? At some point even these boots must have felt sufficiently comfortable for you to have bought them…we don’t want you making the same mistake again!
Problems
Despite their obvious importance, your feet are one of the most neglected parts of your body! Most people will suffer some foot, ankle or leg problem at some point in their lifetime; unfortunately, most live with the problem, either assuming nothing can be done or not knowing where to go for information.
It is only in the last few years that people have become aware of these problems; we have worked closely with Phil Oren, an American with foot problems of his own and a vision to change the way boots are fitted. By using and refining elements of the “Phil Oren FitSystem” we have taken our knowledge of feet and their interaction with boots & socks onto another plain.
As our reputation for being able to solve “problem feet” has grown many foot-sore individuals who have been disappointed elsewhere have sought us out for help; we have been able to help the vast majority of these people, however we do come across some whose foot problems are beyond any help we can offer in-store. Fortunately we know someone who can help…
Andrew Stanley is a State Registered Podiatrist who owns & runs the Rebound clinic in Settle where he specialises in the diagnosis and correction of biomechanical dysfunction conditions (sometimes referred to as over-use injuries) and chronic (long-term) injuries of the leg and foot. Using the latest movement analysis technology and treatment techniques, he is at the forefront of podiatric therapy. Andrew conducts all clinical consultations and meticulously oversees and supervises the production of corrective devices in the on-site workshop. He personally takes feet casts, modifies devices and fits orthotics for patients - thus ensuring optimum correction and comfort.
